New affordable homes unveiled in Brailsford

We support council to grow their housing stock

Ten new affordable homes have been officially unveiled in the Derbyshire village of Brailsford, marking another positive step in partnership working with Derbyshire Dales District Council.

The homes, which will be managed by NCHA, were acquired by the District Council through a Section 106 agreement with developer Cameron Homes. Funding for the purchase came from the Government’s Local Authority Housing Fund (LAHF), supporting the Council’s ambition to expand its housing offer across the Dales.

These new homes form part of a wider programme that has already delivered 23 social rented homes across the Derbyshire Dales. They will provide much-needed support for individuals and families, including people at risk of homelessness and those rebuilding their lives in the UK.

The scheme includes a mix of high-quality homes, comprising four one-bedroom, four two-bedroom and two three-bedroom properties. Reflecting a strong focus on sustainability, all but two of the homes have achieved an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of A, helping to reduce energy costs for residents while supporting environmental goals.

NCHA has been working in partnership with Derbyshire Dales District Council over a number of years to support the rebuilding of its council housing stock, following the transfer of its homes to a housing association in 2002. Since then, the Council’s housing portfolio has grown to 62 homes across the district, including locations such as Ashbourne, Matlock, Bakewell and now Brailsford.

The new homes were officially opened at a ribbon-cutting event attended by Deputy Civic Chair Councillor Jo Linthwaite, alongside district councillors, council officers and representatives from NCHA.
This latest development highlights the ongoing commitment of both organisations to increasing the supply of affordable housing in rural communities, ensuring more people have access to safe, secure and high-quality homes where they can build their future.
