NCHA office design in green belt area

At the heart of our biggest design project on Farnborough Road in Clifton is a new headquarters for NCHA.

The office is located in the green belt, which has brought design challenges for both our architects and the local planning department. The design ensures we do not compromise the openness of the countryside but aims to keep the development below the height of the existing college building. People living on Farnborough Road will have a clear view through to the countryside beyond and it is designed to sympathetically sit within its environment.

The design brief was for an office with an agile workforce. Since the pandemic, as with most companies NCHA have become used to working in a more flexible and agile way, so the new two-storey office building design has built on this experience. It will be home to 200 bookable workspaces, a variety of meeting spaces, a 24-hour call centre, a training facility and maintenance depot. In addition, there is a range of affordable housing being built as part of a wider community development.

NCHA are committed to making the whole development carbon neutral and as energy efficient as possible. The office will be built to Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) Excellent standards, which will demonstrate the quality, performance and sustainable credentials of this building.

The office is due to be completed in 2024. We’re looking forward to sharing the progress on our social media channels. If you are considering how your office space will look for the future, get in touch and we’d be happy to discuss design ideas.
