Architects inspire the next generation

Supporting Design Day at Fernwood School

Pelham’s Architects Mike and George, were delighted to take part in Fernwood School’s annual Design Day, supporting Year 10 students as they explored creative thinking, structural design, and hands on problem solving. This year is particularly special, marking the 12th year in a row that Mike has partnered with the school to help inspire future designers and makers.

They joined the school’s ADT (Art, Design & Technology) team for the day, sharing their industry experience and guiding students through practical design challenges. The session included model making, discussions about real world architecture, and an introduction to how design thinking shapes the buildings and spaces around us.

Fernwood School later shared their appreciation in a heartfelt message:

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for everything you did to support Design Day last Friday.

We appreciate it more than I can convey in an email, but it truly does make such a difference to our students (who haven't stopped talking about it this morning!).”

The enthusiasm and engagement of the students made the event a rewarding experience, and Mike was proud to continue helping to inspire the next generation of designers and problem solvers.

Pelham is committed to supporting local schools and encouraging young people to pursue careers in design, engineering, and the built environment. We look forward to collaborating with Fernwood School again in the future.
