Sheltered housing goes all-electric
We’ve helped to create a 24 home sheltered housing scheme at Ambion Court in Market Bosworth, Nuneaton. Comprised of one-bed flats, this scheme’s all-electric, with photovoltaic panels on the roof to reduce use of the mains power.
Our design for Ambion Court really allows for open communal spaces, including a:
- Cinema lounge
- Dining area and servery
- Library nook.
Corridors are limited in length, with natural lighting and seating areas to encourage residents to interact.
Created for Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, it marks our first design project for the council. However, we’ve worked with them before as employers agents on another scheme. For Ambion Court, we acted as the employers agent and provided architectural services.
The site was previously occupied by a 1960’s sheltered housing scheme with out of date room sizes and limited bathroom facilities. It was great to be involved in a refresh to this site, creating better homes for local residents.
Built by GEDA Construction, Ambion Court was completed in 2021. However, three new bungalows will also be added to the site in 2022.
